Watersports

Introduction

Watersports in the Peak District - Ellen MacArthur grew up around these parts you know!

Whilst we may not have the sea we do have plenty of water in the Peak District – after all world-beating yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur grew up here!

Visitors can try their hand at sailing, windsurfing or canoeing at a range of reservoirs and lakes – we have over 50 reservoirs in the Peak District and many offer watersports for visitors. Rudyard Lake and Carsington Water both offer a comprehensive range of watersports.

Closer by, and surrounded by woodland within the Peak District National Park, Damflask Reservoir lies in the picturesque Loxley Valley. Three rowing clubs are all active on the reservoir, in addition to a local sailing club. It is also open to anglers all the year round who fish mainly for Bream, Pike, Roach and European Perch.
