Full Description: North Lees Hall in Hathersage is only open to the public one weekend in September, however it is possible to walk around the outside throughout the year. Used in the filming of Pride & Prejudice, the description of the hall also matches Rochester’s House in Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’ – ‘three storeys high, of proportions not vast, though considerable: a gentleman’s manor-house’.

Charlotte Bronte visited the Eyre family of Hathersage in 1845, staying with them at North Lees Hall. The hall appeared as Thornfield in the 2006 BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre.
