Full Description: Horse riders can enjoy a long-distance trek on the Pennine Bridleway, which starts in the Peak District using old packhorse routes and former railway tracks. There are a number of pony trekking and riding centres in the Peak District, most of which cater for all standards and ages.

For those wishing to observe rather than participate, Flagg Races near Buxton is a great point to point, held every year in April.

In May, Chatsworth provides one of the country's most spectacular settings for a horse trials, with the cross-country course providing two days' great viewing as it winds around the beautiful park on the banks of the river Derwent.
