Full Description: Chatsworth is perhaps the most magnificent and certainly the best known stately home in England, housing a private art collection representing 4,000 years of European culture and craftsmanship, from ancient Greece to modern work by British artists. The family home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, everything about the house is on an impressive scale, from the sumptuous interiors to the breathtaking gardens and the 1,000 acre, ‘Capability’ Brown designed estate is one of the most beautiful and historic man-made landscapes in Britain.

Home to the Dukes of Devonshire for over 400 years, Chatsworth is one of the finest country houses in England and was recently voted 'best stately home in Britain' on TV.
The gardens stretch for hundreds of acres encompassing beautiful fountains, statues, gardens and a hedge maze. Also part of the Chatsworth estate are a Children's Farm, Adventure Playground and Garden Centre. The house itself is beautifully furnished and home to a massive number of art treasures, some spectacular painted ceilings and Jan Vandercaart's famous trompe l'oeil violin painting.

Chatsworth House is open March to almost Christmas daily 11am-4:30pm, and the Gardens are open June to August 11am-5pm.
