Full Description: The Peak District’s cave network is a whole different world, with weird stalactites and stalagmites and many former mine workings to explore. There are four amazing caves to explore in nearby Castleton offering safe, well lit environments which are ideal for casual visitors.

Castleton hit the headlines in November 2006 following the discovery of Titan, the largest cave in the UK. At over 140 metres from roof to floor it is as high as the London Eye. Peak Cavern, which recently reverted to its pre-Victorian name, the Devil’s Arse, is one of four show caves and each one is unique.

Speedwell is famous for its underground boat journeys, Treak Cliff for its stunning stalagmites, stalactites and Christmas Carols by candlelight, and Blue John Cavern for the semi-precious stone that is still mined from its depths.

For the more adventurous, experienced potholers will be spoilt for choice whilst beginners can access expert guidance and specialist training and equipment.
