Fishing in the Peak District

Introduction

In his book ‘The Compleat Angler’, Izaak Walton praised Derbyshire as having ‘the best and reddest trout in England’.

Visitors can fly-fish on the River Derwent, Wye or Dove, or coarse fish in the lakes and reservoirs.

Here on the Ladybower Reservoir wild brown trout fishing is extremely popular and visitors can obtain permits for seasonal, daily or afternoon fishing.

Boats are available for hire or anglers may fish from the banks of the reservoir.
